Test Scenario Authoring FAQ

1. How to reuse test scenarios?

You can reuse an already created Test scenarios and associate it to JIRA Issues.

Example :

Step 1. Open a Story where you wish to associate the same Test scenario >> Go to 'Test Scenario/Acceptance Criteria' section

Step 2. Search for the Test scenario by "Summary" and associate it to the story.

2. How to clone a Test scenario?

You can easily clone the Test scenario.

Step 1. Open the original Test scenario > click on 'More' drop-down button from grid and 'clone' option. You can change the summary if you wish and click 'create' button to create the clone.

Step 2 : Observe the link of original Test scenarios under 'Issue Link' section.

Note :

- Cloned test scenarios does not include associated 'Action Steps' of original Test scenario. But you can search and associate the Action steps to cloned Test scenario.

3. What is the difference between Test Scenarios, Actions Steps and Step Units?

Test Scenario:
A test scenario is a test case for a use case / story in a business domain. There may be one or many test scenarios for every acceptance criterion defined for the story.

Action Steps :
An action step is generally an atomic transaction as perceived by users and business experts.

Step Units :
A step unit is a technical decomposition of an Action Step. These details are generally abstracted from an end user or business domain experts seeing that in its entirety. These are not allowed to be provided for manual actions steps.

4. How to add test data?

While adding a step unit to an action step you can add Test Data.

5. How do I see what Test Runs use my Test Scenario?

To find out which Test Runs use a Test Scenario, open the 'Test Scenario' >> scroll down to bottom under "Activity" tab and select 'Test Run' option.

6. How can I see what Stories use my Test Scenario?

To find out which stories use a Test Scenario, open the 'Test Scenario' >> down to bottom under "Activity" tab and select 'Associated Issue' option.
